Twenty Years Since the Overthrow of Joseph Desire Mobutu

On Wednesday, May 17 from 12 - 2 PM, Friends of the Congo in collaboration with the Institute for Policy Studies present a panel discussion on where Congo is two decades  after the overthrow on Congo-Zaire's longtime dictator Joseph Mobutu. The panelists will discuss the impact of the Alliance of Democratic Forces for the Liberation of the Congo and their backers in Rwanda and Uganda who occupied the Congo for a number of years at the turn of the century. They will also look at the product and legacy of the AFDL in Congo's current leader Joseph Kabila who aims to remain in power as long as Joseph Mobutu who reigned over the Congo for three decades.
